Friday Randoms looks like a post is missing in the rear of this building.
How it remains standing is a mystery.

This week my daughter's art class has been painting along with Bob Ross.  Check him out here and let him sooth away your stress.

Crayola is retiring a color from the classic 24 pack.  As a 2nd grade teacher, I can tell you that there are many others that need to be retired besides this one.

If you are into travel, you will appreciate these items carried by flight attendants.

Leaving you with some Post Modern Jukebox, because I can't get enough of it myself.

Thankful Thursday

This Thursday I am thankful for you.  Yes, that's right, you, the reader.  All of you who take a moment out of your day to read this blog and make a comment.  I cannot forget those of you out there who read and don't comment.  I see you in my stat counter and appreciate all of it.

I never knew cows, kids, and small town livin' could bring a person so much joy.
Thank you all......

So are the Days of Our Lives.....

Our days are full of softball these days.  The girl of the house just turned sixteen, so she isn't driving on her own yet.  We still meet up after school for drives to practice or to catch the game bus.

Her high school team is made up of the best group of young women, this year.  They have been playing ball together since they were little girls.

They are currently region champs and will be headed to the state tournament at the end of April.

Not to be outdone, the young man of the house is building large structures.  He is on the left.  It seems the backside of him is the best picture I can get these days.

Sad Sunday

An unexpected accident took this girl from us yesterday.  She was a faithful companion to us for so many years and her antics will be sorely missed.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful this Thursday for a son.  Yesterday he turned twenty-years old.  He is an independent thinker who is not afraid to branch out on his own.  A challenge during his childhood, he has grown into a fine, young man.

What are you thankful for this Thursday?  Children, pets, family, or maybe just a peaceful moment of time.  Let me know!

Dogs Galore

This past Saturday I rounded up the whole family and made them go to a dog show with me.  Why, you ask?  Well, I am a sucker for a dog.  Any type of dog, purebred or rescue, it doesn't matter.

Watching the dogs in the show ring is fun, but I always like the backstage area where you can get up close and personal with dogs and owners alike.

A lot of grooming goes on here and if you like the smell of wet dog, you are in luck.

All shapes and sizes were represented when we we there.

It goes on for four days and dogs from surrounding states come to compete.

Not only were dogs being groomed, but there were puppies to pet.  Wheaten puppies, to be precise.  They were too busy, their photos turned out blurry.

Rescue groups were there finding homes for dogs and there was even a pet psychic/communicator.

Three rings of agility competition were going on and we watched for about an hour.  One little dog wasn't having any of it and grabbed one of the cones and starting running around the ring.  When he would stop, the handler would get close, and the dog would zoom off again.  Great fun for the audience, but I am sure the handler didn't care for it!

Grackles and Blackbirds

Saturday we returned home from a big city excursion to find a huge flock of blackbirds in our yard/acreage.

They were very noisy and hard to capture on camera.

On closer inspection my son determined that they were Grackles.  With their iridescent sheen, he said it was obvious.  To him, I am sure.

He was able to get a little closer than I was.  He told me my camera was spooking them.

A few years ago I shared this article about a little girl who fed crows and they returned in kind with gifts.  An interesting read, for sure.

When your face has been in the sweet feed, your beauty game is all kinds of off.....

My nights at the softball park watching my girl pitch have just started.  When you are a pitcher you can use your skills in other ways.

I am a sucker for a Jack Russell Terrier and this one is no exception.

Here are a few Shepherd's Pie recipes for your St. Pat's day feast.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful this Thursday for happy children.  All is not perfect in their world, but they take issues in stride and handle problems that come their way.  We have the opportunity for some family time this weekend, and that makes me happy.

What are you thankful for this Thursday? know you want to.

Just a Random Tuesday

Straight out of the archives, this photo features an old time hardware store located on my small town square.  Currently for sale, you could be my neighbor.

Sunday afternoon we had over forty Robins in our yard.  It was quite a sight.  With the rain and cold temperatures, I think they have hunkered down in their nests.

The time change had my students sleepy and worn out by lunchtime, Monday.

What's happening in your world?

Choose Happiness

My Friday morning started off as usual.  An early wake-up followed by packing up the Suburban in an effort to get out the door in a timely fashion.  My daughter and I have our routine down pat and we drove away on schedule without a care.  Typically she dozes on our twenty minute ride to school, that day, however, she had a lot on her mind.

Happiness was on her mind.

She had watched two documentaries on Netflix and had some fresh ideas on life.  Happy and The Minimalists, had a decided affect on her sixteen-year old persona.  We started a conversation about what makes a person happy in life.  Is it their circumstance, their mental state, or maybe their monetary state?  We talked a lot about mental attitude and being truly thankful for what you have.  Being happy, it seems, doesn't depend on what you have.  That was our take-away from our conversation.

Can I just say that I am happy?  I am thankful for all that I have, and it isn't all perfect, please know that.  I think being happy is a choice we make each day.  Make that choice today.  I did, and it makes all the difference.

Another natural spring in our area.  This one is located in the area where my mom grew up.

Here are a few sports photos that are worth your time.

Ben and Jerry's has some new ice cream flavors that my daughter will love.  Cereal flavored ice cream is a thing.  I will pass.

I have gardened with straw bales before and shall be doing it again.  Here is a little inspiration to get you started.

Thankful Thursday

Thankful this Thursday for our early spring temperatures.  Our weather has had its rainy moments lately, but it is so great to take my class outside and then come home from work to walk with the dogs.

Mother Nature....don't you love her?

We are supposed to get snow on Saturday.  I know, I seems a bit freakish after all of the brilliant weather.  And, it isn't a dusting either.  They are forecasting several inches.  Though the last time they did that, not even a flake fell from the sky.  Time will tell.

What are you thankful for this Thursday?  Spill it!
Inquiring minds want to know.

Mellow Yellow

You know when you think there is nothing at all happening and then you just take a good look outside?    That's how it is today, because spring is springing early and the fields are awash with Daffodils.

Yellow is the color of the moment.

They are all about sun worship on a glorious day.

What a great ambassador of spring.

Super Sunday

It's been a Super Sunday here in central Kentucky.  Great temps, sunny skies, and no plans.  That means a great afternoon at home with supper on the grill and a walk with the dogs.

Does it get any better than that?  I don't think so.

It's been a while, so here is some Jimmy Fallon.  I always watch his clips because I can't stay up late enough to watch him at night.....

I have heard Stevie Wonder on the radio several time this week, thus he is your escort into the weekend.

Thankful Thursday

This home, (built between 1810-1825) contains a yard full of Daffodils.  They have naturalized over the past two hundred years.  They even extend well beyond this photograph.

Thankful this Thursday for all being well.  Yesterday brought a fierce round of storms with the possibility of tornadoes, but all was well.  The stormy weather passed with a few tree limbs in the yard and a couple of pieces of siding missing from the house.

Excellent results, I say!

What are you thankful for this Thursday?  Weather related or not, just let me know!
